In the local dialect of Penghu, "dolphin" is pronounced as "hai-chu", and another meaning of this term refers to "a wonderful or high-quality ('high') place ('chu')." Based on this, the design team creatively combined the images of "dolphins" and "mice" to develop the cheerful and lively "Hi Mouse." As one of the welcoming mascots for cycling tourism, its distinctive patterns reflect the cultural identity and unique characteristics of Penghu. Not only does it invite visitors to admire the artwork, but it also creates emotional resonance with local residents. Its most notable feature lies in the incorporation of many elements and symbolic meanings deeply cherished in Chinese culture. Whether it is the appearance of blue-and-white underglaze decoration or the specifications and motifs of the design itself, they are closely related to Eastern cultural heritage. Blue-and-white porcelain is an art form fully representing Eastern aesthetics, and the blue color also echoes the seascapes of Penghu's island scenery, where the sky and sea blend seamlessly — becoming a picturesque landmark for both locals and tourists. The playful Hi Mouse faces the sun, balancing on a rainbow-colored sphere with a smile full of childlike charm. The design is centered around the number 8, which carries a homophonic association with the Chinese word "fā" (meaning prosperity or fortune). Furthermore, its patterns incorporate all the distinctive elements of Penghu. Although Penghu is a relatively small region, it possesses rich cultural and creative resources such as the Double Love Stone Fishing Nets, green sea turtles, and lighthouses. The Hi Mouse represents not only the local Penghu culture, but also plays a significant role in revitalizing the region's tourism industry.
