嘉義縣布袋鎮入船路46號
At the entrance of the 543 Story Museum in Budai, there is an installation art called "Budai Harbor". Budai Harbor is the old name for Budai, and the museum used to be the "Budai Detainment Facility of the Kaohsiung Customs Office, Ministry of Finance". The locals used to call it "Customs". The museum now showcases the historical changes and cultural customs of Budai through artistic exhibits, allowing visitors to understand Budai in an innovative and fun way. The first floor of the museum showcases 400 years of historical changes in Budai through paintings. Each painting represents a colonial period, including the prehistoric era, the Dutch and Zheng periods, the Qing dynasty, the Japanese colonial period, and the post-recovery period. In the early post-recovery period, Budai had a prosperous sea transportation with China, earning it the nickname "Little Shanghai of Budai". The children's reading room on the first floor is designed based on the ship houses of that time. The room has tatami mat flooring, allowing children to sit on the floor and read picture books. The exterior of the room is decorated with famous shops like Yongle Tea House and Night Blooming Jasmine, as well as commodities like rice and sugar that were highly exported at that time, highlighting Budai's past prosperity. The second floor exhibit showcases the daily life scenes of Budai residents through old photographs and installation art. One of the exhibits, a "stereoscopic painting", is particularly impressive. When photographed, it appears to be a flat oil painting, but in reality, the artist painted everyday objects like tables and chairs with oil paint-like colors, creating a large-scale installation art. Visiting this place makes one feel like they are the main character in a painting. When visiting Budai in the future, aside from tasting delicious seafood at the fish market and admiring the High Heeled Shoe Church, don't forget to stop by the 543 Story Museum in Budai. Through artistic experiences, one can learn about the past of Budai.
