In the early post-recovery period, Budai had a prosperous sea transportation with China, earning it the nickname "Little Shanghai of Budai". The children's reading room on the first floor is designed based on the ship houses of that time. The room has tatami mat flooring, allowing children to sit on the floor and read picture books. The exterior of the room is decorated with famous shops like Yongle Tea House and Night Blooming Jasmine, as well as commodities like rice and sugar that were highly exported at that time, highlighting Budai's past prosperity. The second floor exhibit showcases the daily life scenes of Budai residents through old photographs and installation art. One of the exhibits, a "stereoscopic painting", is particularly impressive. When photographed, it appears to be a flat oil painting, but in reality, the artist painted everyday objects like tables and chairs with oil paint-like colors, creating a large-scale installation art.
