桃園市平鎮區八字圳水岸公園至中壢環北路老街溪橋
The construction period for the Old Street Creek Bridge is scheduled until December 31, 2030. A Duets of Urban Greenery: Old Street Creek and New Street Creek, Laying Down a Path of Quietly Flowing Daily Life As you stroll along Old Street Creek and New Street Creek, you will discover that the scenery of the city can actually be as gentle as a poem. These two streams function like the natural duet of Taoyuan, quietly playing a rhythm of intertwined nature and humanity in daily life. Old Street Creek: A Trail that Reconnects You with Nature Originating in Longtan, Old Street Creek flows northward through Pintung, Zhongli, Daliang, and other regions. Named after the Old Street of Zhongli, it is an important river in the city. The Old Street Creek Trail is approximately 5.2 kilometers long, beginning at the Pintung Bazizi Waterfront Park and extending to Zhongli Ring North Road, connecting along the way Xinhushi Park, Riverside Park, the River Education Center, and the historically significant Xinguang Fude Temple. It is not merely a green belt in the city but functions like a quiet corridor in everyday life here, allowing egrets and spotted munias to occasionally fly low over the banks, while lush greenery surrounds you gently. Every step allows you to briefly escape the hustle of reality and return to a pure rhythm. Hence, the Old Street Creek Trail attracted over 10.53 million visitors in 2024, becoming the fifth most popular recreational destination nationwide. Along the riverbank, not only is greenery abundant, but environmental education and historical memory are also integrated. From the local faith of Xinguang Fude Temple to the urban renewal of the Old Street Creek Covering Square, each step is like turning the pages of a quiet and gentle city walk journal. Along the way, you might also catch sight of a few wisteria trees swaying gently in the wind or children playing on slides, while the Xinnan Weir quietly maintains the water's rhythm, stably irrigating 40 hectares of farmland in Zhongli and preserving the ecological balance of this region. New Street Creek: Hiding the City’s Past and Present in Its Flow If Old Street Creek is like an elder gently telling stories, New Street Creek is akin to a quiet vein of water pulsating through the city. New Street Creek flows through Longtan, Pintung, Zhongli, and finally reaches the Daliang industrial zone, with a mainstream length of approximately 29 kilometers and a downstream estuary at the famous Dapingding Bird-Watching Area. The New Street Creek Trail is nearly 8 kilometers long, beginning at the Water End Bridge of Dazhen Road in Zhongli District and ending at the Mantengfang Bridge on Longgang Road. Along the way, cultural sites like Renhai Temple, New Street Elementary School, and the Zhongli Art District are passed, making this path not merely a hiking trail but more like a cultural corridor along the riverbanks, traversing history and time. In spring, clusters of cherry blossoms bloom on both sides, casting a gentle pink filter over the entire trail. Glancing carelessly, you might just pass by a white egret or a golden-breasted fulvetta. As you walk along these two trails, you will understand that healing is actually very simple. Just like Old Street Creek and New Street Creek, they do not make loud noises or dazzling surprises, but in the blink of an eye, allow you to rediscover the ability to simply be with yourself.
