Lukang Longshan Temple was established during the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, originally located near the old harbor ditch of Lukang (currently Da-you Street). In the 51st year of the Qianlong period (1786), military official Chen Bangguang proposed relocating Longshan Temple to its current site. It underwent renovations during the 60th year of the Qianlong period (1795), the 9th year of the Daoguang era (1829), the 2nd year of the Xianfeng era (1852), Showa 11 (1936), and Minguo 75 (1986). In Minguo 72 (1983), Longshan Temple was designated as a first-class cultural heritage site. It is now a nationally designated heritage site.
