The Lukang Tianhou Gong (designated as a national cultural heritage site) was originally established during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and relocated during the third year of Emperor Yongzheng's reign of the Qing dynasty (1725). It is the only temple in Taiwan that enshrines the original image of Meizhou ancestral temple's founding holy mother goddess. Major temples that have received sub-deities and incense from Lukang Tianhou Gong include Beigan Chiaotian Palace, Maisiao Gongfan Palace, Puzi Peitian Palace, Changhua Tianhou Gong, and others, totaling over two thousand temples across domestic and international locations. Believers are spread throughout all corners of Taiwan, and pilgrims visit throughout the year without cease.
