雲林縣口湖鄉民主路5號
Honoring ancestors at the fishing port, seeking peace through Wan Shan. The Jinhu Wan Shan Ye Temple was built in 1957; its incense-fire was divided from the founding Wan Shan Shrine in Hanzailiao, Taizih Village. To commemorate the maritime disaster of the Daoguang era, residents of both Jinhu and Hanzailiao hold the Qian Shui Zhuang ritual on the seventh and eighth days of the sixth lunar month to deliver lost souls and pray for local peace. Jinhu Wan Shan Ye Temple is located near Jinhu Fishery Harbor in Gangdong Village, Kouhu Township, Yunlin County. First erected during the Xianfeng reign of the Qing dynasty to mourn the four thousand victims of the 1845 tsunami in the Jinhu area, villagers set up a stone tablet inscribed “Wan Shan Tong Gui” (All Good Souls Together) and a shrine for later generations to worship. For more than 150 years, heavy rains, seawater back-flow, and the widening of the West Coast Highway forced the temple to move eastward and to higher ground, creating its present appearance. Now, on the eighth day of the sixth lunar month, the Qian Shui rite attracts visitors from all over Taiwan and is the most important folk celebration along the Kouhu coast.
