Cao Huang Wetland spans only approximately 3 hectares, yet it harbors over 200 species of woody and herbaceous plants, along with more than ten species of aquatic plants. It is rich in biodiversity, with numerous bird species, frogs, dragonflies, and damselflies observable year-round. This wetland is a precious ecological asset in central Taiwan worthy of enhanced conservation efforts as well as educational and tourism resources. Recreational facilities within the area, such as the Dragonfly Enclosure, Frog Classroom, and Startle Bridge, symbolize ecological imagery and have been self-constructed and maintained by local residents. These popular attractions are among visitors' favorites. Thanks to the residents' dedication to ecological preservation, the wetland glows with bioluminescent insects around April and May, becoming one of the few prime firefly-viewing locations in Puli. During hot summers, vibrant lotus flowers bloom, their expansive leaves swaying gently in the wind like emerald waves, effectively dispelling the summer heat. However, since the wetland is hidden beneath a forest canopy, visitors often struggle to find access without a seasoned guide or local interpreter.
