南投縣集集鎮泰順廊橋
The Taishun Covered Bridge in Zhejiang Province, China, refers to the covered bridges in Taishun County, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, with wooden arch covered bridges as the core. There are over 30 ancient covered bridges from the Ming and Qing dynasties still existing in Taishun, and due to their large number and diverse forms, Taishun is known as the "Kingdom of Covered Bridges" and "The Hometown of Covered Bridges in China". The covered bridges in Taishun are physical evidence of China's rural culture, and their bridge structure is similar to that of the Bianjing Rainbow Bridge in the famous Song Dynasty painting "Qingming Shanghe Tu". For centuries, the locals in Taishun have called covered bridges "centipede bridges". The covered bridges are mainly made of wooden arches, and the bridge body is built with a mortise and tenon structure without using a single nail. This special construction method has been listed as one of the world's intangible cultural heritages. The combination of the covered bridge and the wooden arch structure makes the covered bridge have the following functions in addition to its basic transportation function: providing structural support for the wooden arch, shielding from the wind and rain to protect the wooden bridge, providing a place for people to rest, and serving as a place for folk beliefs, gatherings, and trade. Currently, a covered bridge from Taishun, Zhejiang Province, can be seen in Wuchang Temple in Jiji Town, Nantou County. This covered bridge was built in the style of the Beijian Bridge in Xixi Town, and a statue of the Star of Marriage, Yue Lao, is enshrined in the center of the covered bridge. People who hope to get a good marriage can walk across the bridge of love and sincerely pray to Yue Lao for a good marriage.
