The hot spring area along the extension of Laonong Creek has as many as eight hot spring locations. Among them, the more famous are Bu-Lao Hot Springs and Bao-Lai Hot Springs. Located in the Bao-Lai Hot Spring area, the Bao-Lai Flower Appreciation Hot Spring Park is in full bloom year-round, offering visitors the pleasure of enjoying flowers while soaking in hot spring baths. The park also features luxurious camping tents to provide natural immersion and a complete sensory retreat. Bao-Lai Hot Springs belong to the category of sodium bicarbonate hot springs, with water temperature reaching 52°C and a pH value of approximately 7.2. This superior-grade spring is colorless and clear, with mild water quality capable of softening the surface of the skin. After washing, the skin feels smooth and is thus known as the "Beauty Spring" and "Beauty Muscle Spring."
Severe damage to the hot spring source area was caused by Typhoon Morakot in 2009. Due to the proactive promotion by Kaohsiung City Government, a geothermal well was successfully drilled on January 2017 at the elevated plateau behind Bao-Lai Junior High School. The obtained spring water was then directed into the Bao-Lai Flower Appreciation Hot Spring Park. The Government invested funds in renovating the park, reopened it in 2020, upgraded bathing facilities, and added facilities such as changing cabins, shower rooms, and spa pools to enhance visitor convenience. Additionally, the park features open-air nighttime bathing areas and operates 24 hours a year.
The Bao-Lai Flower Appreciation Hot Spring Park covers 5.4 hectares, surrounded by mountains and planted with 1,370 flowering trees including Koelreuteria elegans (Huaqitu), Kawakawa cherry (Hejing cherry), Jacaranda (Lanhualing), and "Meirenshu" ("beauty tree"). The park maintains a vibrant floral landscape all year round, with different blooming highlights in each of the four seasons. Every March and April witness the full bloom of Koelreuteria elegans, drawing numerous visitors. Amid the flowers, they can immerse themselves in the tranquility of hand and foot soaking.
The hot spring bathing areas are arranged as camping zones with facilities like luxury tents, DIY tents, and camping vehicles, allowing guests to camp under blooming trees and awaken to the sounds of insects and birds. Inside the park, urban adventure exploration facilities were also introduced, featuring a variety of high-altitude experiences to challenge and explore. Guests are warmly invited to explore this mountain forest, breathe in nature deeply, and create unique travel memories combining hot spring bathing, camping, and adventure.
