On January 13, 1988, the late President Chiang Tengai passed away. Following his death, officials in Matsu deliberated and decided to establish the Dr. Yenching Memorial Hall in Matsu. Finally, the site near the western hill of the Victory Reservoir was chosen, and the construction was completed and inaugurated in June 1994. The wall in front of the memorial park features a relief depicting Dr. Yenching inspecting military and civilian defenses. The main architectural style of the building draws inspiration from Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing and Dr. Yenching Memorial Hall in Taipei, adopting a "blue-tiled and white-walled" design. Structurally, it references the National Theater and the National Concert Hall in its form, being a "Xieshan-style" palace architecture. The building consists of two floors and occupies about 100 square paces (approximately 350 square meters), displaying dignity with a touch of elegance. On the first floor of the memorial hall stands a bronzestatue of Dr. Yenching in a seated pose along with his last will. On the second floor are displayed cultural relics and historical records, showing old photos of Dr. Yenching inspecting Matsu's defense affairs over the years and handwritten original documents from official correspondence. It is worth reviewing these exhibits attentively, as they represent the essence of more than four decades of the battlefield history of Matsu.
