Jinquan Snack Shop is none other than the famous "Mai Mian Yanzi." The fame of the original owner is so great that it overshadows the shop's name, so the signboard is actually named after him, making his name more prominent than the shop's name. Yanzi starts his day early, carefully preparing for opening. The white tiles on the counter are polished to a bright shine, and the small glass cabinets are spotlessly clean. Beneath the cabinets, fresh green leeks are neatly arranged, making the food on top look even more delicious and glossy.
The tables and chairs are extended from the covered walkway all the way onto the street. Inside, there are long tables with long benches, while outside there are round tables, square tables for worship, and various types of chairs: round, square, with or without backrests, with or without armrests, wicker or bamboo ones - it's like a miniature of traditional Taiwanese commoner furniture. What leaves a deep and unforgettable impression is that each table top is always washed to a pinkish color, feeling soft and smooth to the touch, just like his pork liver, tender and delicate.
