A Fat Guy Noodle Shop

2024-04-08
Wanjiang has a long-established Fuzhou noodle shop that is highly discussed online, it's a must-visit for food bloggers. The shop is called "Yi Feizi Noodles," located next to the Shanzhou Temple in Wanjiang. "Yi Feizi" was founded by Mr. Hong Wuwen in the 1950s in front of the Guandi Temple on Xichang Street. After several relocations, it is now located at its current site, and has been passed down to the fourth generation, the daughter and son-in-law. Traditional Taiwanese flavors are the common characteristics of the shop's products, from pork oil rice, Fuzhou dry noodles to the signature braised pork. Although the names of the dishes are not fancy, they offer a delicious taste that surprises the taste buds. Each dish is a traditional, old-fashioned delicacy. The prices are as simple and affordable as the dish names, you can enjoy delicious food that makes your stomach feel full for less than 100 yuan. The owner insists on quality, all dishes are made with natural ingredients. The broth is made with onion, radish, and large bones, plus a secret weapon. It is topped with the wife's carefully selected black vinegar and the husband's homemade spicy pickled radish, making a bowl of delicious Fuzhou dry noodles. The pork oil used in the pork oil rice is fried by the owner himself, and the rice is selected from a long-established rice store on Guiyang Street, using Guanshan rice. The signature braised pork does not use food coloring, but is marinated with natural red yeast to make black pork. The signature clear soup with meat balls has an interesting origin: the owner of the neighboring stall passed on a secret recipe to "Yi Feizi" after closing his business, hoping that they could continue to pass on the traditional flavor. The shop also has a hidden menu - the old-fashioned red tea, which is served to the public to help with greasy food. After finishing your meal, don't forget to take a can of old-fashioned red tea with you, otherwise your trip would be in vain!
