Pingtung City is the seat of Pingtung County government, and many of the county’s major events are held here; a large number of indigenous people have also moved in, seeking more employment opportunities or a more convenient, modern life. For a long time, those who have left their homelands to live in the city have still hoped for a place of their own within it—a place where they can see their own people, and where they can revisit their language, traditional crafts, and memories. Thus, during the year, work began on this cultural center that also functions as a museum. Here, the tribes can hold all kinds of cultural and artistic activities, meetings, or training camps; it has become a shared home for the people.
