A truly remarkable culinary master doesn’t need a wide menu—just one or two dishes of exceptional quality can capture the hearts of gourmets. Located on San-cheng’s San-he Road, Wang Shrimp Soup is just such an old‑timed establishment. It sells only one specialty, the “shrimp soup,” and nothing else. Once inside, you don’t even need to glance at a menu on the wall; just tell the owner how many bowls you’d like. It feels like one of those famous oyster noodle shops that monopolize their niche—one outstanding item dominates the market. The truly admirable flavor lies exactly in that simplicity, coupled with the owner’s unwavering confidence in his own cuisine. Wang Shrimp Soup has been operating in San‑cheng for over thirty years. The first generation of the Wang family opened the shop on Datoong South Road. When the landlord reclaimed the premises, the shop was moved to its current location outside the Jie‑shou market. It was later managed together by the second generation of Wang brothers. The sheer size of the shrimp in Wang’s soup—so large that a spoonful feels almost enough—immediately impresses diners. Combined with a specially seasoned broth, every customer who steps in can’t help but praise it. In each bowl of Wang’s shrimp soup, the owner demonstrates his thoughtfulness toward guests. A bowl costs only NT$50, yet it is served in a deep, wide bowl that feels generous and substantial. One bowl is enough to make you feel half‑full.
