In the early days, residents around Dapengwan mainly engaged in aquaculture in fish ponds. The water intake pipes of every household crisscrossed the ground, creating visual clutter and management challenges. After extensive coordination and planning, the pipelines of aquaculture operators were reorganized and converged into a "Shared Water Intake Pool" for collective use. This not only resolved issues related to scenery and management but also added a recreational and educational area. Along the lagoon’s perimeter, bicycle and walking trails were planned, making it one of the best spots for sunset viewing. With complete barrier-free facilities, it is also ideal for pushing a wheelchair while enjoying the breeze and strolling amidst the beautiful sunset scenery. To better align this attraction with the unique cultural and scenic characteristics of Dapengwan, a special "naming contest" was held in 2014, and the site was eventually renamed "Sunset Bay."
