"Pan-fried Pudding French Toast" turns out to contain no pudding at all.
Tucked beside Far Eastern Department Store on Chuiyang Road, Little Plate caf’e & brunch has been a fixture of Chiayi’s brunch scene for seven years. The owner is a bona-fide brunch fanatic who, fueled by wanderlust and a love of tasting whatever the world offers, opened a place that serves only the dishes she loves, treating every guest like a friend.
Premium hydroponic greens come straight from contracted farms—no middlemen—so the supply is abundant; among Chiayi’s many brunch spots, Little Plate is known for especially generous and varied salads.
Her pride and joy, though, is the signature "Pan-fried Pudding French Toast": baguette soaked in egg batter, slowly griddled until the crust turns golden and fragrant while the interior stays moist and delicate—so much so that first-time tasters swear there must be pudding inside. There isn’t; the name simply honors the texture.
Also rare is the house-made fresh-milk yogurt cup, crafted from Kuang Chuan’s premium milk with zero additives—so pure that regulars often order three at a time.
