"Nanya Chiyan" is known as one of Taiwan's 36 secret scenic spots, located between the 78th and 95th kilometers of Taiwan Highway No. 2. The Northeast Coast National Scenic Area stretches from Nanya in New Taipei City's Ruifang District in the north to Beigangao in Yilan County in the south, with the entire route running along the mountain and by the sea. Except for the areas around Yanliao and Fulong, which are characterized by a long stretch of sandy beaches formed by marine accumulation, the rest of the area is dominated by sea-eroded landforms. Due to the alternating layers of soft and hard rock, coupled with the long-term erosion by strong winds and giant waves brought by the northeastern monsoon, the coastline presents a unique landscape of bays and capes, as well as peculiar rock formations. It has the richest geological landscape resources in New Taipei City, and the unique, colorful patterns resembling painted artwork are the most distinctive scenery in this area. Because the rocks here are mostly sandstone, with varying hardness between layers, they are eroded by sea winds at different speeds and with different resistance, forming a unique rock landscape with uneven peaks and valleys. In addition to the "ice cream rock" and "bamboo rock," there is also the famous "sea dog rock." During sunrise and sunset, many photography enthusiasts and tourists stop to take pictures, which showcases the richest geological landscape resources in New Taipei City.
