The Eagle-Watching Trail is the best spot on Bagua Mountain for viewing eagles. It can be accessed via the entrance sign beside Hugang Road (County Road 139), and the trail is 1.05 kilometers long. Every year from March to April, Grey-faced Buzzards return north from their wintering grounds and pass over Bagua Mountain; visitors can watch the eagles take off and land from the Eagle-Watching Platform, making this the prime season for eagle watching on the mountain. In addition to the spring Grey-faced Buzzards, local birds can be seen here year-round, such as Crested Goshawks, Great Egrets, Rufous-capped Babblers, Light-vented Bulbuls, and Japanese White-eyes. Along the trail, various interpretive signs introduce the bird resources of Bagua Mountain. Outside eagle-watching season, the platform offers distant views, and at sunset one can enjoy the breathtaking sight of the setting sun.
