Jinpakuli Old Street, also known as Jinshan Old Street, is always crowded with tourists on holidays, with thriving businesses and a wide variety of local delicacies such as braised pork, oyster omelets, yam cakes, and roasted sweet potatoes. The street is also famous for its duck meat stalls at the Guang'an Temple, which is a popular spot. The self-service style of serving dishes has become a unique local custom.
Jinshan Old Street is the only Qing-era commercial old street on the North Coast. During the Qing dynasty, the street was as bustling as a modern commercial city, with a high volume of commercial activity. Walking through the street, you can still see many remnants of its past prosperity, including traditional long, narrow buildings with Min-style architecture and Western-style facades, as well as small alleyways. Nearby, there is a traditional Chinese medicine shop with old furniture and medicine jars that still retain a sense of the Qing era.
Although the street's former prosperity has faded, thanks to careful preservation planning, the old street's pedestrian zone still features drainage grates with unique designs that reflect the character of Jinpakuli Old Street. These creative touches aim to bring back memories of the past and allow visitors to experience the charm of this ancient street.
