南投縣集集鎮東昌巷4號
Mingxin Academy is a quaint three-winged courtyard complex; the central hall has three bays and is enclosed on three sides by red-brick walls. In the early Guangxu years, Jiji flourished as the Central Mountain Range was opened up and the camphor trade boomed, bringing vigorous cultural life. Local gentry then proposed building Mingxin Academy at Chaiqiao Village. In 1883, when the Zhuoshui River overflowed, huge logs were carried downstream; timber from the mountains was used to erect the hall. The main altar enshrines Lord Wenchang, flanked by the Sage Who Invented Writing and Master Ziyang, together with an altar to the Great Accomplished Supreme Sage Confucius. Couplets on the altars, hanging plaques, entrance hall, and side corridors proclaim the academy’s mission to carry forward the Confucian legacy. In recent years, seasonal festivals, folk-custom gatherings, and cultural fairs have combined literary and artistic functions with local industry, culture, and tourism.
