Shunyi Taiwan Indigenous Museum - Art Branch (hereinafter referred to as Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum) was officially opened on June 10, 2020. This art museum located in the heart of the city is another important milestone in the journey of the Lin Nai-weng Foundation in promoting Taiwan's art and culture.
Located around the Beimen Square in Taipei City, the current location of Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum is No. 5 Yanping South Road. Previously, it was the "starting house" of Shunyi Group - "Shunyi Trading Company." This old building with a 74-year history has been transformed into a brand new art museum under the planning of Chairman Lin Chun-ki. The pursuit of excellence of the Shunyi Group will radiate greater cultural energy to society through the operation of the art museum.
The founder of Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum, Honorary Chairman Lin Ching-fu, has a deep love for his hometown and cherishes Taiwan. Since the 1970s, he has continuously collected many Taiwan indigenous cultural relics and local art paintings. In addition to displaying the outstanding paintings donated by Honorary Chairman Lin Ching-fu, Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum also holds special exhibitions according to different themes, and invites curators and young artists from home and abroad to participate, aiming to promote Taiwan's culture. In terms of educational and promotional activities, the art museum actively connects with primary and secondary schools at all levels, focusing on diverse aspects such as "local culture and humanities," "innovative culture," and "diverse art," hoping to use aesthetic education as the foundation for children to learn about Taiwan's art. At the same time, Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum also encourages academic exchanges and practical internships, and encourages people from different backgrounds to participate in volunteer services, jointly building a cultural platform for everyone to share and exchange.
This art museum is located in a key area of the old street scenery construction in Taipei City. It is also part of the golden cultural and art zone of Beimen and the surrounding area of Taipei Station, which is the first gateway and impression for domestic and foreign tourists arriving in Taipei. As the starting point for outsiders to get to know Taipei, Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum has incorporated the diverse aspects of the city's new culture and the historical, cultural, technological, and interactive elements of the old street scenery into its blueprint. It is expected that this art museum will become an important clue for the public to sort out the city's texture and memory. Surrounded by many cultural relics, such as Futsai Street Western-style Building, Zhongshan Hall, Taiwan Museum Railway Park, and the Postal Museum, Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum will also take Taiwan's historical memory as the core, and through activities connecting with nearby attractions, promote cultural resonance within the city.
In 2020, the birth of Shunyi Taiwan Art Museum not only added a new landmark to the Beimen golden cultural and art zone, but also activated community cultural exchanges with its rich and exquisite artistic connotation. This charming new cultural and art space will lead the public to witness the charm of Taiwan through classic art works, and inject new cultural energy into the city.
