Wuzhou is the ancient name of Jinmen. In the year 1682, during the 21st year of the Kangxi era, the first commander of the Jinmen garrison, Chen Long, moved the commander's office from Jinmen City to Houpu, and also brought the City God of Jinmen here. This has a history of over 300 years. The Wudao City God Temple has undergone multiple repairs, and in recent years, it has been rebuilt with granite and cement, making the temple more magnificent. After Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty gained the throne, he once said, "I established the City God so that people would know awe. If people have something to fear, they will not act recklessly." This shows that both the emperor and the people have a consistent reverence and devotion to the City God. The "Wudao City God Procession" held on the 12th day of the fourth lunar month is the largest religious activity in Jinmen. In modern times, this important day has been combined with the tourism and cultural season, inviting various performance teams to showcase traditional folk performance teams, allowing travelers to experience the rich cultural connotations of Jinmen's religious traditions.
