Guningtou is also known as Gulongtou or Jiali Tou, including Nanshan, Beishan and Lincuo. In the past, there was a bay of seawater winding between the south and north hills, the landscape resembling two carp with their heads and tails interlocked in reverse, hence the name "Shuangli Hu" (Double Carp Lake). Between the lake and the sea, there is a small sandbar emerging from the water, resembling a lotus flower rising from the water. Geomancers said that it looked like two carp welcoming a pearl, so a temple was built here called "Shuangli Gudi", enshrining Guan Di as the guardian deity of the area, with Guan Ping and Zhou Cang as accompanying deities. This is the deity worshipped by the people of Nanshan, Beishan and Lincuo in Guningtou. The temple was originally built in the 13th year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty. It was renovated in the 16th year of the Republic of China. During the 8-23 Artillery Battle, numerous shells fell around, yet this Shuangli Gudi Temple stood firm without any damage, further demonstrating the miraculous power of this sacred place and its divine spirit. It was renovated again in the 63rd and 73rd years of the Republic of China, and the most recent renovation was completed in the 97th year, further enhancing the temple's golden splendor.
