Located in Xinzhuang District’s sub-city center, Wunzidi Wetland Park is Xinzhuang’s only park that combines water access, ecology, recreation, and flood detention. “Wunzidi” (“bottom of the fishpond”) takes its name from the former marshland along the Zhonggang Drainage. Thanks to the efforts of the Xinzhuang Community College Wetland Volunteers, the ecological restoration of Wunzidi Wetland is now showing clear results. They have set aside a cascading-water zone that mimics a natural stream course and planted aquatic plants, while also building Taiwan’s first artificial floating island to boost water-purification efficiency and provide flora and fauna with an excellent habitat. The park is fully equipped with a welcoming plaza, children’s playground, splash pool, shaded pavilions, and a skating rink. Besides strolling, it’s perfect for bringing the kids; the splash pool is especially popular with children seeking relief from the summer heat.
