Why is the bakery called Charlie's? Is it because it serves char siu inside? Not exactly. The name "Charlie" comes from a cat's name, which was translated into Chinese as "叉里包". The store's name was directly inspired by this, becoming "叉里包 Charlie's". The pure white standalone store has a clean and refreshing visual aesthetic, with a school located right across the street, creating a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Sitting inside, you can also see the greenery outside the window. This breakfast and brunch store has quietly attracted many regular customers. The owner used to work in Taipei, but after dining at a famous restaurant called "貓下去", they were inspired to embark on a culinary journey, even going so far as to work at the restaurant to learn cooking skills. During the pandemic, they returned to Chiayi to take care of their elderly family members and rest, and started selling "叉里包" from a small food cart. However, they ended up staying in Chiayi and even expanded their business to open a physical store. The "Signature Charlie's" is a creative and unforgettable light meal. You can choose between a soft French bread or a Parmesan cheese bread, with a base of creamy mashed potatoes, topped with sweet and sour pickled vegetables and roasted BBQ pork belly, along with some pickled onions to add texture, and finally sprinkled with Italian seasoning, garlic, and basil. The way you eat it is just like a burger, taking big bites, but with more layers and flavors than a traditional burger, making it never get boring.
