The Theme Hall of the War and Peace Memorial Park, located within the War and Peace Memorial Park, offers distant views of the mainland coastline on sunny days. This contrast to the tense atmosphere of wartime further highlights the irony of its theme of "War and Peace." Officially unveiled in 2010, during its opening ceremony, the Matsu Administration invited back "Beihai Heroes," veterans who had previously excavated tunnels in Matsu, to revisit their past work. They specially screened "War-time Memories – Vintage Matsu Films" inside the hall. During the military administration period, civilians could not possess cameras; only the military had the authority to photograph or film. Therefore, images from these eras hold incomparable value, allowing viewers to revisit the authentic lives of soldiers and civilians, uncovering the mysterious veil of wartime governance. The theme hall, centered on "Emotion · Memory," is divided into sections: origins, military history chronicle, military supplies display area, and civilian ecological culture. Through texts and visual material, the theme hall reconstructs the half-century-long militarized era of Matsu, retracing the journeys of military personnel and civilians who persevered together through these years, leaving a vivid imprint for visitors to reflect upon the hardships faced by residents of this war-torn region. To visit the War and Peace Memorial Park Theme Hall, head towards Hou'ao Village along the sandy shores of Tanhou Road next to the North Matsu Airport. Follow the signs upwards. Before entering the park's mountain road, there is a traffic light directing local residents traveling along this route. For safety, wait for the green light before proceeding directly uphill to avoid potential vehicles coming down mid-way – a fact worth noting, this is the only traffic light on North Matsu.
