Gengxin Botanical Farm covers about 0.7 hectares and is run by a retired civil-service couple. They focus on miracle fruit and jaboticaba; the miracle trees, now nine years old, are large. Though the berries are small, they can magically alter taste—any sour fruit becomes deliciously sweet. Besides the original miracle-fruit enzyme, the farm now offers a health tea made from the leaves; brewed, it tastes a bit like ashitaba, sweet with a slight bitterness, and the owners say it produces a subtle saliva-promoting sensation. Visitors can learn about miracle-fruit ecology and enzyme production through guided explanations and experience the fruit’s wonder for themselves.
