Cai Cu Old Path, located on the northern slope of Taiwu Mountain, starts from the mountain entrance behind Cai Cu Village. It is a historical hiking trail featuring natural rock-stacked steps. Locals also call it the "102 Steps" due to the numerous stone stairs. In early times, the Cai Cu path provided the shortcut of Shamai to reach the area beyond the hills. Kinmen ancestors carried salt and tofu over the mountain peak, transporting them outward for sales, forming an authentic salt and tofu road. The Muzhou Settlement Construction Record Stele, shortly called the Yuan Dynasty Stele on the ancient path, further confirms the historical value of Kinmen's past as a salt field. As visitors climb the large and small stone steps weathered over the years, they encounter landmarks such as the Yuan Stele, Xiao Zhu Fortress, Loversโ€™ Bridge, Monk Stone, and Yuan Li Lake along the way. The trail extends mainly under tree shadows and is pleasant to walk in spring and autumn. Certain sections require hands and feet cooperation, but there's an observation point at the peak for rest and panoramic views of mountain and sea.
