The Beigou area is not only a wetland granary, but also a treasure trove of environmental ecology. It has many migratory bird habitats and bird-watching spots, with the Nanbeigou Wetland Xincen Park being the best observation point. From the bird-watching spot, you can see black-faced spoonbills and various bird species within 200 meters. The bird-watching wall, activity square, trail, and parking facilities near the windbreak forest provide a comfortable bird-watching environment for domestic and foreign scholars, experts, and bird enthusiasts. The Nanbeigou Salt Field Wetland covers an area of approximately 722.21 hectares. According to the 2020 survey results, various bird species can be found, including the black-faced spoonbill, egret, heron, and ducks (such as the black-faced spoonbill, green-headed duck, and shallow duck). Other species include the small water duck, red-necked goose, high-legged shorebird, red-billed gull, black-tailed gull, Egyptian sacred ibis, and eastern ring-necked plover. On that day, 639 black-faced spoonbills were observed. The plant species found in the area include Taiwan fodder tree, bitter melon's dog tail grass, cogongrass, and long-clawed cogongrass. Additionally, fish, shrimp, shellfish, seaweed, and aquatic plants such as sea vegetables, filamentous algae, tassel algae, and stone seaweed can be seen. This demonstrates the rich ecological diversity of the area.
