The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway connects Ita Thao and Nine Tribes Cultural Village in Sun Moon Lake. Taking the ropeway offers a Michelin three-star view of the lake, surrounded by mountains. This cable car system, designed and manufactured by Doppelmayr of Austria, runs from the lakeside in Ita Thao to the Guoshan Tower in Nine Tribes Cultural Village, spanning 1,877 meters with 86 cars. The cars are colored red, yellow, blue, and green, representing the sun, moon, lake, and mountain forest, respectively. The green cars are crystal cars with transparent floors, suitable for thrill-seekers who want to experience the sensation of being 142 meters above the ground. During the ride, passengers can bird's-eye view the famous Sun Moon Lake scenery, Yuichi and Puli high mountain basins, and the distant 日月湧泉 (Rising Sun and Moon Spring) and Dahu Lake inlet. As the cable car rises to Mount Pugui, it crosses a 786-meter-wide valley, creating a "smile" arc line between T7 and T8 pillars, known as the "Valley Smile." The view is unobstructed, offering the best bird's-eye view of the lake.
