新北市三重區環河南路299號
Duck Park sits at the confluence of the Dahan and Xindian Rivers; over the years, silt has accumulated to form a sandbar that has become a haven for many water birds. To raise awareness of the need to protect this natural water-bird habitat, the area was planned as a park where visitors can observe bird ecology while relaxing and enjoying activities. Every winter, the Duck Park Land Art Festival is held, using ducks as the creative theme to build a fun, educational, and recreational environment. Inside the park stand three different kinds of cartoon-style duck sculptures; read the nearby placards and you’ll pick up plenty of ecological knowledge. Thanks to abundant aquatic plants and animals that provide a stable food supply, the site is also a major stopover for migratory birds; the little teal’s migration season runs from September to April the following year. On weekends, besides strolling or cycling, you may spot little teals gliding peacefully along the shore. Duck Park offers a huge lawn and several basketball courts—bring a Frisbee, kite, or other outdoor gear and you can easily spend half a day here. Note that shaded areas are limited, so avoid coming in strong midday sun and remember to stay hydrated and protected from the sun.
