There is a big "duck meat pancake" sign at the Wuchang Street corner, with a picture of a duck next to it. However, upon closer inspection, it seems a bit strange, because the duck's neck is not that long. After trying it, you will find out that this is actually a store that only sells goose meat. When asking the owner, "If it is a goose meat store, why is it called 'duck meat pancake'?"
It was started in 1950 as a roadside stall selling duck meat, but the business was just average. Two years later, the owner tried to sell local goose meat instead, and the business improved. From a street vendor to a two-story shop, it has now been operated for three generations, becoming well known. Even during non-meal times, there are always a lot of customers. Although it is goose meat, the "duck meat pancake" sign has been kept all along.
This place uses authentic lion-head goose, commonly known as the local goose in Taiwan. It was introduced from Chaozhou, China, and raised in Taiwan. The meat is firm and delicious, regarded as the premium quality of goose meat, tender and juicy when eaten. It is also paired with the owner's special red sauce and black sauce, both of which are delicious. In addition, the soup noodles and soup rice noodles are made with broth boiled from dozens of geese, without any MSG, yet very delicious and perfectly matched with the goose meat.
Established in 1950, it is actually a goose meat store, and does not sell duck meat. The sign of the store is "local goose," which refers to the lion-head goose. After a brief cooking, it is lightly smoked. The broth used to cook the goose is made by stewing the goose bones, and then poured over the cooked rice noodles and noodles, with a piece of pork added, making it a traditional local "cutting noodles" and "cutting noodles." The rice noodles and noodles are very delicious, with the key being the high-quality broth made from stewing goose bones, which has a fragrant aroma that has attracted many customers from far and near, allowing this small store to stand firm in the Ximen Ding commercial area for more than half a century.
