The vast sandbar wetlands near Hua Jiang Bridge have always been a habitat for many migratory birds. Every year from September to April of the next year, thousands of birds, including ducks and sandpipers, visit this area.
Considering environmental conservation and maintenance, according to the characteristics of ecological resources, and without affecting the living conditions of plants and animals, the park is planned into three areas: core area, buffer area, and sustainable utilization area.
The core area is the main wetland restoration zone, mainly for the restoration and maintenance of bird habitats, so it is not open to the public. Between the sustainable utilization area and the core area, a green hedge or a barrier ditch is used to isolate and set up an educational area as a buffer zone, including areas such as freshwater pool ecosystems, tidal pool ecosystems, aquatic ecosystems, and marsh plant areas.
In the park's green areas, which are planned and planted by humans, many herbaceous and woody plants have been generated, serving as a food source for insects. The muddy shores with abundant invertebrates are the best feeding areas for sandpiper birds.
The sustainable utilization area mainly focuses on family leisure and bird watching activities, with facilities such as duck-watching trails, bird-watching squares, and family activity zones, providing the public with places for activities that interfere less with the environment. To strengthen ecological conservation education and publicity, a large-scale duck festival is held every year during the migratory bird season, and interpreters are stationed on holidays to serve the public. The Hua Jiang Duck and Goose Natural Park is located outside the dike, and the main bird watching areas are in the Hua Jiang Duck and Goose Park and the Hua Zhong Riverside Park. With complete facilities, it is convenient for the public to come here and observe the ecological environment.
