Located on Yonghe Korean Street, Yi Ju Dong / Liu Family Dumplings was founded by the first generation, Liu Chong-zi and his wife, who were originally from Weihai, Shandong. In 1947, both were just 19 years old and crossed the sea from their hometown to Korea, then to Taiwan. With the culinary skills learned in their hometown and the friendly exchanges with local neighbors, they opened "Yi Ju Dong Bakery" in 1955. Later, the second generation, Liu De-gan and his wife, who were the same age as the shop, took over and started selling northern-style stir-fried dishes, noodles, dumplings, and more. They received high praise from food writer Zhu Zhenfan. Popular items such as Shandong roast chicken, three-flavor fried sauce noodles, hearty dumplings, and stir-fried noodles are not only frequently featured in media reports but also evoke nostalgic flavors for Shandong elders.
