Hanpi Trail begins near Meihe Garden, stretching approximately 1.5 kilometers in length. The trail gently winds along the shores of Hanpi Peninsula and through shaded woods and floral scenery, making it a popular route suitable for both young and old. Along the trail below Hanpi Building lies an older pier originally constructed exclusively for Mr. Chiang Kai-shek. Security posts were once placed nearby to restrict general access, now transformed into a historical site. Early morning walks reveal active wildlife, including multicolored birds, red-headed birds, and white-eyes flitting among the trees. Upon reaching the lakeside pier, one can fully appreciate the Cien Pagoda, Lalu Island, and the surrounding green mountains and water. Yule Ting (Recreational Pavilion) offers the best vantage point for observing the Qinglong Mountain range and Lalu Island. Careful observation can reveal the geographical mystery behind the legend of the Qinglong Dragon snatching the pearl. Lalu Island, directly facing Xguang Temple and Xuanzang Temple atop Qinglong Mountain, as well as the Cien Pagoda on Sabalan Mountain, form a symbolic "Happiness Line," inspiring many visitors to make wishes for happiness. Alongside the trail are fragrant shrubs loved by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, including osmanthus and gardenia. Gazing across Sun Moon Lake from the trail, the calm water mirrors the hazy mountain scenes, creating a picturesque view. The late Mr. and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek often strolled along Hanpi Trail to admire the lake's beauty. This site has hosted numerous renowned domestic and international figures, holding significant historical importance in modern times. § Visually impaired individuals are advised to be accompanied and assisted while navigating this trail, entering through the entrance adjacent to the Senior Center (Sun Moon Lake Elderly Recreation Center in Yu Pool Village).
