The Chief Creative Park is located in Wulai District, New Taipei City. For more than 30 years it has been a long-established venue promoting Atayal culture. Inside the Chief Cultural Song-and-Dance Theatre you can feast on mountain specialties while watching traditional Atayal dances: the men wear feathered headdresses that evoke warrior spirit, the women don floral crowns to highlight beauty and vitality, and their faces are daubed with ink to symbolize the traditional facial tattooing. The program includes lively welcome dances, bamboo-pole dances, and traditional wedding-celebration dances; when the atmosphere peaks, guests join in the chanting, creating a wonderfully festive scene.
The Chief Creative Park offers spacious areas where visitors can try traditional Atayal weaving or make DIY braided bracelets. Atayal crafts are also becoming more diverse and innovative. The park functions as a visitor center as well; local travel inquiries are handled by the same staff.
