Houtong

2024-04-11
Houtong Cat Village was once selected by the U.S. cable news network CNN as one of the world's six best cat-watching spots, a mountain village known for its monkeys and coal mines. In recent years, due to the initiative of a cat-loving netizen, volunteer teams were established to improve the village's environment and provide a more friendly living space for the cats. As information spread online, it gradually became well-known and has now become a pilgrimage site for many cat lovers. In order to promote the correct concept of cat feeding and conservation, and to revitalize idle spaces, the New Taipei City Government specially renovated an old Taiwan Railway dormitory in the Cat Village into a cat information station, which opened in November 103, providing the public with correct animal protection concepts.
