The Seafaring Guardian Temple of Kinmen (Jinmen), a county-designated historic site, is a wooden temple structure dedicated to Lord Su of Eternal Prosperity, exuding an antique charm that evokes a sense of nostalgia and tranquility.
Historical background of the Kinmen Hall
The Kinmen Hall was originally established as a Kinmen community hall. Since it enshrines Lord Su from the "Hu De Palace" of Kinmen, it was also known as Wu Jiang Hall. Constructed during the 52nd year of the Qing Qianlong era (1787 AD), the initial temple was narrow and insufficient for use. In 1805, the 10th year of the Jiaqing era, it was expanded to achieve larger scale, followed by numerous restorations thereafter. The most recent renovation in 1999 finalized its current appearance.
