Yuying Mountain is located next to the west side of Sanxia Old Street. The mountain got its name because its shape resembles a flying bird of prey. Yuying Mountain and Yingge Stone, which is located on the north bank of the Dahan River, face each other from afar. When driving on National Freeway No. 3, the two mountain peaks appear on the left and right like entrance pillars to New Taipei.
In folklore, the troops of Zheng Chenggong, also known as the “King of the Ming Dynasty”, were attacked by two strange birds here. Zheng ordered his troops to use the Longgan cannon to attack them. The two strange birds were shot down and then transformed into today's Yingge Stone and Yuying Mountain.
Yuying Mountain stands at the southern edge of the Dahan River alluvial plain. It has a good view and is a popular hiking spot in Sanxia. On top of Yuying Mountain, there is a bronze bell built in 1985. The bronze bell was built through the joint efforts of local people called for by the then mayor of Sanxia Town, Chang Hsiao-feng. It was built to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Taiwan's recovery. It was the largest bronze bell in Taiwan at that time, symbolizing the lofty ideal of human beings in pursuit of peace.
The trail to Yuying Mountain is moderately difficult and suitable for people of all ages. There are many small but beautiful spots along the trail, such as Changchunyuan Firefly Path and Yuying Mountain Color Wall. There are many tung oil trees along the trail. Therefore, Yuying Mountain is a good place for hiking.
The mountain is 291 meters above sea level, with pavilions, benches, and lush vegetation. It is a recreational area for the residents of Sanxia. Many tourists visit here on holidays. At dusk, you can overlook the Dahan River alluvial plain from here. You can also enjoy the beautiful night scenery of Sanxia, Yingge, and Baode areas. When night falls, the lights of National Freeway No. 3 sparkle like stars on the ground. The view is very beautiful. On clear and moonless nights, you can even see the skyline of Taipei City dozens of kilometers away. The more you watch, the more beautiful it becomes.
