Since opening its doors in 1975, Lianwu Pork Rice has become a well-known long-established snack in the San Chong area. The interesting name comes from the owner’s nickname. As a child, he had a traditional “抓周” ceremony and drew a wax melon, which earned him the nickname “Lianwu.” As an adult, he sold pork rice and simply adopted the nickname as the shop’s name. The pork cubes here are a mix of lean and fatty, tender and melting in the mouth. The shop also offers seasoned side dishes such as braised cabbage and tofu. In addition to regular local patrons, many “fortune‑teller” food lovers keep it on their go‑to list. Lianwu Pork Rice has passed down through two generations, located near the San Chong District Office. Its main clientele are middle‑aged, labor‑intensive workers, so over the years the restaurant’s culinary reputation has come to be “satisfying and filling.” This is evident in the pork rice itself: the meat sauce on top of the rice is rich in fatty pork, whose aroma may not rival other famous old establishments, but the fat provides the calories workers need, meeting the “satisfying” requirement. It has even been featured in the “Unordinary Explorations” food reports.
