Tung Dao is a well-known retro restaurant on Ren’ai Old Street in Sanxia. Though the owner is still young, the interior is filled with four- or five-decade-old furnishings—vintage TVs, old movie posters, antique soda bottles, rotary-dial telephones—creating a dense wave of nostalgia that stirs happy memories for many visitors. Outside stands an authentically aged tricycle that has become a must-photograph spot for Sanxia tourists.
The shop’s fame rests on its fragrant, far-traveling pork-chop rice and braised-pork rice. Sitting in front of an old black-and-white TV to eat the pork-chop rice rekindles the homesick warmth of family meals from an earlier era. Tung Dao’s pork chops are large yet meticulously prepared, featuring carefully selected local Sanxia black pork paired with delicate side dishes—refined, filling, and memorable. Besides the pork-chop rice, the crispy golden chicken leg is another signature favorite. Alongside these staples—pork-chop, chicken-leg, and braised-pork rice—there are also various noodles; a must-try when visiting the old street.
