Penghu Visitor Center is located in Makung City, providing tourism information services, with guided tours and exhibits showcasing items such as columnar basalt rocks and models of Penghu King Ships. Before visiting Penghu, one may first come here to learn about Penghu's history and culture. After collecting ample travel information, you may take a stroll at the Penghu Rest Park right beside the Penghu Visitor Center. The park covers an extensive area of 140 hectares, encompassing a forest conservation area, a watershed conservation area, a vegetable garden nursery zone, and a floral landscape area. The floral landscape area is planted with various ornamental flowers like petunias, lavender, and Mexican sunflowers based on different themes and seasonal changes. However, due to the strong northeast monsoon and harsh environmental conditions in Penghu, plant growth is challenging. The beautiful flower fields are achieved through the hard work and numerous trials of professional staff. One can walk along multiple shaded trails such as the Rong Yuan Wooden Boardwalk and the Ying Cui Trail within the expansive park. Near the floral area lies the Tian Ren Lake, which features "Mini Twin Heart Stone Traps," an artificial scenery that allows you to admire special Penghu landscapes without traveling to Qi Mei Island. The park also includes Penghu's first Soil and Water Conservation Outdoor Classroom, established in 1996. Adjacent facilities include a water collection system demonstration area, a soil erosion simulation zone, and a cactus succulent plant garden area, fulfilling environmental education functions to deepen your understanding of Penghu's unique topography and ecological environment.
