In the 65th year of the Republic of China, on the anniversary of the death of President Chiang Kai-shek, the local military and civilians in Kinmen built the Chiang Kai-shek Park to commemorate him, in memory of his "virtues benefiting Kinmen." The entrance of the Chiang Kai-shek Park is located on the southern side of Taihu Lake. The park includes Taihu Lake and the Banyan Garden, covering an area of as much as 50 hectares. There is a grand gate at the entrance, with the gate standing by the shore of Taihu Lake. A bronze statue of the late President Chiang is erected in the middle of the gate, holding a walking stick in his left hand and a military cap in his right hand, waving with a kind and warm smile. The park is shaded by pine trees, and features a lake-viewing path, a children's playground, stone carvings, and small bridges.
