The King Turtle Rock is located by the Laonong Stream in the Liugui District. It is a tall and majestic mountain rock with a king-like demeanor, resembling the King Turtle. It is accompanied by a growing Taiwanese pagoda tree. According to folklore, there are six rocks scattered in the riverbed of the Laonong Stream under the Liugui Bridge. When viewed from a distance, these six boulders resemble six turtles floating in the stream. Our ancestors named this place "Liugui" because of this. The locals built a small shrine for the largest rock, called the King Turtle Rock, and visit it every day with offerings of Chinese cabbage and red radish to pray for protection from flood invasions. Even after Typhoon Morakot, the King Turtle Rock still stands silently by the path alongside Laonong Stream, guarding the residents of Liugui. It is recommended to spend about 15 minutes here. After a simple visit and worship, you can also enjoy the scenery around Laonong Stream.
