The Lion Mountain Artillery Position is located behind the Shanhoushan Folk Culture Village on Lion Mountain. It is the only remaining tunnel-type howitzer artillery position, also known as Zhen Dong Tunnel, reflecting the meaning of "fearlessly confronting the eastern side of Kinmen." The tunnel is 508 meters long, with an average height of 4.6 meters and a width of 3.6 meters, making it quite spacious. The tunnel was converted into a tourist attraction in 2011 and is now open for visitors to tour the internal military readiness rooms, storage rooms, ammunition rooms, and gun bunkers. The walls are engraved with motivational slogans and military training phrases, preserving the complete set of defensive facilities. Particularly notable is the 8-inch howitzer that played a significant role during the August 23rd Artillery Battle. Its range reached 17 kilometers, and its power was tremendous, reflecting the intensity of the combat at that time. Although the terror of war has long passed, the famous artillery drill performance at the Lion Mountain Artillery Position demonstrates the process of firing shells before the eyes of tourists. Although it is no longer as shocking as before, the powerful and rhythmic calls and steps still leave a deep impression on visitors. Artillery drill performance ◾️ No performance on Thursdays. A total of six performances are held daily. On weekends and holidays, an additional performance is added at 9:00 a.m. ◾️ Performance times: Two sessions in the morning: 10:00, 11:00. Four sessions in the afternoon: 13:30, 14:30, 15:30, 16:30.
