Dakeng Scenic Area - Mountain Trail Guide
Dakeng Scenic Area is an important leisure destination for the spiritual and mental well-being of Taichung City residents. It is a popular spot for hikers to connect with nature and stay fit, as well as a major tourist attraction in central Taiwan. On ordinary days or holidays, it is common to see groups of friends and families exploring the area together, making it a shared backyard for the people of Taichung. The most distinctive feature of the area is its 14 mountain trails. Trails 1 to 8 were opened in the early 1970s and were constructed according to the natural terrain of Dakeng Mountain and its intersecting streams, with the highest elevation reaching 859 meters at Touqian Mountain. Trail 9 was opened in December 2005, Trail 10 was completed in March 2008, and Trail 9-1 was completed in November 2013.
**Trail 8 Details:**
- **Length:** Approximately 0.95 kilometers, suitable for both adults and children.
- **Entrance:** The original entrance is inconspicuous; visitors must walk about 800 meters along the industrial road from Jiancheng Lane.
- **Features:** This trail is lined with orchards along the way, attracting hikers to stop and admire the scenery. The endpoint leads to Wind-moving Stone Park, where multiple gazebos are set up, providing a beautiful resting area for visitors.
