The San Siao Cheng Pastry Museum is located on the bustling Danshui Old Street. Every weekend, the museum is crowded with both adults and children eager to try various pastries. San Siao Cheng Pastry Shop was established in 1935, initially founded by the current owner's grandfather, who along with his three sons, learned how to make Quanzhou-style pastries. The name "San Siao Cheng" symbolizes the hope that the three brothers would work together in harmony. Initially, the shop focused on making wedding cakes, and later, the chef from the British Consulate taught them how to make British fruit tarts, resulting in San Siao Cheng's pastries that blend traditional and Western flavors.
To promote local tourism and allow international travelers to better understand Danshui, the shop provides informative materials about Danshui in multiple languages, including Chinese, English, German, and French, which can be freely taken by visitors. The shop offers a variety of pastries for customers to try and provides hot tea and seating, making it a well-known destination for both domestic and international tourists. The "Pastry Museum" established within the shop showcases the unique blend of Chinese and Western cultures in pastry-making, featuring display of vintage pastry molds and has become a significant cultural landmark in Danshui.
