228 Peace Park is located within the city block bounded by Park Road, Xiangyang Road, Hwa-in Street, and Keidanlan Avenue in Taipei City. This classical-style urban park features a Japanese garden-style pond with landscape elements, an arched bridge, green walking paths, and an open-air music stage. The Taipei 228 Memorial Museum and memorial monument are also situated within the park.

In 1995, former President Lee, on behalf of the government, apologized to the families of the victims in front of the 228 Memorial Monument. Also that same year, former Taipei Mayor Hsu Tzu-Yao renamed "Taipei New Park" to "228 Peace Park." This renaming aimed to console the emotional pain of the victims' families and encouraged future generations to cherish historical lessons and collectively strive for Taiwan's future and its people.

In 1997, the 50th anniversary of the February 28 Incident saw the completion of the monument's inscription unveiling ceremony. Simultaneously, the "Taipei 228 Memorial Museum" was established, with exhibitions in the museum publicly presenting the full account of the event and the historical facts of those who suffered. Only by understanding the history and uncovering the truth can we pursue genuine peace for ourselves and future generations.
