The Children's Paradise--OWL Forest Academy is located beside the Confucius Temple inside Houtu Mountain Park. Surrounded by a lush natural environment, the area attracts many owls for nesting and feeding each winter, which is how OWL derives its name from the English "Owl" of this forest guardian. Three eye-catching treehouse structures in the park each features the ceramic owls sculpted by local artists. Children will certainly enjoy searching for these fifteen owls with varying sizes hidden in the trees.
OW L Forest Academy utilized the natural characteristic of banyan aerial roots for its construction while avoiding the tree roots during the process so the treehouses can harmoniously coexist with the trees and protect the original ecosystem. To reinforce the treehouse structures, special fiber glass reinforcement was applied to ensure a safe environment for children to play.
An elevated squirrel trail wooden walkway connects the three main treehouses: "Read-Tree Classroom", "Honk-Honk House", and "Green Ark". Hexagonal in shape, the "Read-Tree Classroom" is an observation pavilion allowing 360-degree views of canopy ecosystems from an unusual child's perspective. Designed as a large guardian owl, the "Honk-Honk House" offers lucky spotter views of rare birds through its crevices. The platform "Green Ark", shaped like foliage with a central owl nesting house for birds, also makes a great attraction.
Besides the treehouses, the adjacent children's playground is equally engaging! In addition to four slides, it features a long red and yellow slide with diverse climbing facilities, allowing children endless fun. The park periodically introduces environmental education programs, recording the mysteries of mountain ecosystems through picture books, crafts and painting activities, guiding children to appreciate and cherish nature.
