For many students from the fifth and sixth grades, when it comes to the clothing wholesale business district in Taipei, besides the well-known Wufengpu, there is also the Wanhua clothing business district in the old town area of Taipei. The first clothing store in Wanhua is currently the "Hongsengmei Clothing Store" located on Xiyuan Road. It was established in 1956 by brothers Hong Kuanzhang and Hong Kuanliang from Fangyuan, Changhua, together with their mother, Hong Tsai Shian. In the early days of their business, Hong Tsai Shian and her two sons purchased leftover fabric scraps and pieces from textile stores and factories, processed them into patchwork clothes, and then resold them. Because of the excellent business, they established the "Hongsengmei Clothing Store." Their successful experience also attracted many fellow townspeople from Changhua to engage in the ready-made clothing industry in Wanhua, thus gradually forming the current clothing cluster in the Wanhua area. In 2015, the third-generation operator handed over the old store to Huang Xiuli, a long-time employee who had contributed for over ten years, allowing the first brand store in the business district to continue. The sales method is half retail and half wholesale. Merchants from all over place orders through the communication software LINE, greatly improving efficiency and convenience, and delivering products to all parts of Taiwan. Currently, Hongsengmei still has a ready-made clothing factory in mainland China, offering women's office workers' products tailored to the body shape of Taiwanese people, such as shirts, skirts, pants, and modified Tang-style clothing, making it convenient for office ladies to purchase complete sets of work clothes in one go. From the initial patchwork clothes to the current Wanhua clothing business district, Hongsengmei Clothing Store has led fellow townspeople from Changhua to work hard in the north. During its peak period, there were as many as thousands of ready-made clothing manufacturing and wholesale companies in the Wanhua area, laying the foundation for Wanhua to become a major center for clothing wholesale.
